Mustaffa yearns to live in a world where people connect from disconnecting and strives for excellence through giving not always receiving. He does not believe that we created the black hole, it has always been there, just undiscovered.
Besides orchestrating operations and mapping the business strategies, Mustaffa manages the group's human resource and finances.
Having read Psychology in the National University of Singapore and served the Strategic Planning Department in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (he claims it was good while it lasted), Mustaffa decided to explore the less trodden path as soon as he realised he got left behind by the pack.
A fervent supporter of the one child policy since the birth of #giseletaylorseah, Calvin is still coming to terms with being a father to this many cafes. He also dabbles in the concept of minimalism, choosing to focus on the important things in his personal and professional realms.
The co-founder of the entities, Calvin oversees the group's logistics, occasionally doubling up as the IT guy or facilities management guy, or some other guy.
A marketing major from NUS Business School, Calvin trod the path of his own brand activation agency before being sucked into The Black Hole.
The intense labour, required self-discipline and the opportunity to always learn something new - these are some of the things Sufi enjoy working in the F&B industry. His love for food caught up with him even as he escaped tropical Singapore to pursue a different education route in the United Kingdom.
Charmed by the seemingly simple yet technical art of pasta-making, Sufi was inspired to have a pasta place of his own. Sufi is now living one of his dreams managing Tipo where he churns out artisanal pasta made lovingly from scratch.
Playful and quite a handful - Ash threads on a delicate line of being both a joy and bother to everyone he befriends. Professionally, he is meticulous, precise and a risk-taker. Privately, he is quirky, sarcastic and usually hungry.
Ash has an indefinite amount of love for combat sports, Game Of Thrones, witty clap-backs as well as sneakers. Seemingly intimidating, Ash’s affable personality will grow on you. To the uninitiated, his sharp tongue and piercing insults may be misconstrued but Ash’s a real affectionate guy. Really.
Our head chef had an early start into the culinary world where he was tossed into an array of cuisines that he quickly took interests in. With his sharp palate, keenness to explore unique flavours and joyful enthusiasm for food, the robust menus across The Black Hole Group entities are in good hands. Despite exposure to various cuisines, traditional Malay food is an area the Chef wants to have total mastery over.
Fadzil’s adventurous spirit extends beyond the culinary realm - he once tried to climb Mount Fuji by himself out of sheer curiosity! Damn, you go girl.
Norish has a keen eye for aesthetics, and her strong connection with the way graphics, colours and text intersect demands anyone passing by her designs to look twice. Always restless for new experiences when she was in school, Norish has tried her hand in many things like singing in musicals, partaking in Malay Dance, joining the Netball team (she even did PE as a core subject!), banging the Caixa in the Percussion Ensemble and dancing in a hip hop crew.
This young lady has an affinity for iced Milo and a deep love for steak - medium rare please!
Born and raised near the coast of the historical region of Normandy, Melissa found herself swept unto the shores of Singapore by a mysterious force. Melissa graduated with a Masters in International Hospitality Management from Cardiff University and has gathered a wealth of food and beverage experience in the London.
Her travels to Asia brought her to us and as fate would have it, she was sucked in without notice! This hard on the outside soft on the inside Frenchie manages the human resource affairs of The Black Hole Group. She is famously known for her French Word of the Week (we'll all be fluent in no time!) and quirky demeanour. She also talks to herself sometimes.
Shrouded in mystery, Fadil is an enigmatic boy who walks around with his head in the clouds. Yes, a boy. Fadil hates acknowledging he is an adult now.
Fadil was the manager for Working Title during its revamp into the burger bar it is known as today. After seeing the world for a bit, this sucker returns as the group’s Finance Manager.
Seemingly adorable and often lost in his wandering thoughts, one should not underestimate this young adonis and his wealth of experience in the Food and Beverage industry. With an insatiable appetite for new ideas and for learning, we can only expect to see the growth of this little man.
Syadza loves her chill time. She really does. But while she knows how to chill, she just cannot sit still. Drawn to the quirky and unconventional, Syadza got adventitiously sucked into The Black Hole group. She believes that food and drinks are a form of expression and a universal means for people all over the world to connect, with themselves and with others - an art for the masses. Syadza loves simple and random things and enjoys working on projects; and The Black Hole Group is a never-ending project of projects! She feels right at home.
Zsa Zsa is a food and book addict. This petite lady with her quite air of friendliness has a degree in International Business Management although her heart belongs in the kitchen she loves experimenting new dishes. She comes up with new recipe ideas all the time, if only there was more time to perfect them all. When she’s not cooking up a storm, you can find her re-reading her favourite Pride and Prejudice (she can quote the book from memory!), and munching on an obscene amount of grilled squid and sashimi.
The one with the warmest smile, Zafirah is a petite lady with big dreams. Her love affair with the Food and Beverage industry ensued after working part-time (while she was pursuing a degree in Business and Management, no less!) at a pizza joint. Being part of The Black Hole Group allows her to understand the entrepreneurship and operations of running a cafe. Now, Zafirah has her sights set on opening one of her own.
Zafirah enjoys reading, swimming, baking and dancing to the tunes of Little Mix when she is not spreading sunshine as Front of House at Tipo. And eating sushi. Zafirah loves sushi the most.
Faris feels the essence of entrepreneurship deep in his bones where the idea of venturing into new opportunities leaves him excited. The self-declared leprechaun was first sucked into the world of Food and Beverage seven years ago and his business acumen has sharpened from his time managing ice cream parlours, cafes and restaurants.
It is safe to say Faris could probably write a book on business know-how from his vast experiences. While seemingly reserved, this sucker opts for bluntness in speech in order to have an honest exchange of ideas with the people he interacts with.
